Calories to Burn

Do you count calories?  I hate to burst your bubble – please don’t waste your time.  Your body is a fine-tuned machine.  If you treat it with respect, your calorie counting days will become a distant memory.  That is, if you introduce exercise – any exercise – into your life on a regular basis.  No kidding.  Scales exist, if for no other reason, to remind us that we need to lose stubborn fat.  It’s nothing easy, but so worth it.  The word ‘fast’ has two meanings.  The first is speed-related. The second, and more important meaning relates to a severe reduction in food consumption.  If 26 year old Angus Barbieri could do it, why not you?  Angus went from 465 lbs on Day  1 to 182 lbs 380 days later – that’s a world  record!  You do not have to fast, it just produces results faster (no pun intended) – just exercise instead for similar results, such as by walking and/or biking.  Just burn those calories and watch your fat melt away like magic.  And the dual bonus is that you will ‘age’ slower because aging is associated with sitting idly.  Now, here’s a bonus you did not see coming.  Guess what?  There are numerous ‘negative calorie’ fruits and vegetables that consumemore calories to urnthan they, themselves, contain – all listed for your convenience.  So say ‘Goodbye’ to calorie counting now and forever… good riddance!

Dark Chocolate Primer (DCP)

Dark Chocolate Primer (DCP) is a brief overview about Theobroma cacao (Cacao) from which Chocolate products are derived.  Please consult the extensive List of References below for additional information.  Also included is a List of Sixty-six (66) excellent Chocolatiers [Chocolate Producers], the majority of whom are in the USA.    By the way: do not be fooled by ‘Milk Chocolate.’    Since it contains zero Cacao, it is technically not Chocolate.   Nevertheless, MC is preferred over DC by approximately twice as many people … partly because DC exacerbates acne.

Diet Guru

Condensed from eighty-four (84) primarily science-based References into an eleven (11) page, succinct, Alphabetically-organized Outline of the majority of Good and Bad Foods and Habits, customizable to your needs.   It is such  an essential Guide (and impossible to memorize) that I  recommend you keep it handy.   If you are weight conscious, pay particular attention to ‘negative calorie’ foods  – ones that require more calories to burn than they, themselves, contain.  And, for best results, exercise at least for thirty (30) minutes three times  a week.

Dining Outside the Box

Distinguish ‘eating’ versus ‘dining.’  The former  is necessary to survive. The latter adds a measure of pleasure.  Now, dining outside the box implies an additional unique quality.  Do you yearn for something different?  Has eating ‘breakfast, lunch and dinner’ at home become humdrum?   Spice up your meals without busting your budget.  Do something different for a change.  Go out for LUNCH instead of Dinner (especially at a Buffet Restaurant where you control food choices and quantities,  plus save a bundle), share a meal out with family and/or friends, bring home restaurant ‘leftovers’ since they’re better temporarily on your waist, than wasted.  Have a small appetite today? Buy an appetizer rather than a full meal and bring prepared foods along when traveling great distances by car.  Do you enjoy your booze?  Don’t deny… satisfy… by drinking  at home.  Of course, celebrations call for breaking the Rules occasionally.  Enjoy a terrific meal out that you be be hard-pressed to prepare at home.

Dutch Treats

Born Dutch, I am pleased to share some Dutch delicacies and everyday foods with you by way of Holland.  If you have not been exposed to any of these, don’t be surprised if some of them become your favorite foods.  At the end of the Article you will find the Names of some great Dutch Food Purveyors followed  by half a dozen Dutch Food References to further whet your appetite! The Article  has an ‘Anytime’ Food Section, a Breakfast Section, plus a Lunch/DinnerSection.  Especially if you enjoy Desserts, you are going to ‘go to the Moon’ with the delectable selection of goodies … I can’t stop salivating.  The Dutch are famous for their Brinta (so-called ‘Paaps’) – hot cereals for a cold day made from  milk, wheat, bread,  brown sugar  and a touch of salt.  They fill you up and make you want more.  Of course the Dutch are also famous for baking, especially unique Cookies, Pies and Puddings… so good, so memorable.

Trust me, you will get hooked!

Salt and Sugar

This eBook is essentially a’ Salt and Sugar’ health guide, complete with do’s and dont’s for maximum health/f and safety.  No wonder  consumption of excess Salt, including Baking Powder, Baking Soda, disodium phosphate,  Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), Sodium Alginate, Sodium Citrate and Sodium  Nitrite, along others. But guess what, a much healthier Salt is available … namely ‘SALT 84 HIMALAYAN  PINK SALT containing 84 Essential  Minerals and Trace Elements.  It is readily available and least expensive … this Salt of the Earth.  And with regards to less ominous sugar, the healthiest choice is the Stevia Extract (Rebaudiana A).  Other good choices, as opposed to relatively unhealthy ‘table sugar’ or poisonous Erythritol, include blackstrap Molasses and manuka Honey.   Enjoy the ‘sweet life’ safely.

Spice Up Your Life

Seasoning Foods is an ‘Art’ – Give ‘Life’ to them with the right Spices. This Art is learned little by little, is ever-changing and rarely is the same for two people. Our Taste Buds are Unique and they develop over time. We learn to ‘like and ‘dislike’ foods not only because of the Foods, themselves, but also because of the Spices we use to season them. Were it not for different flavors, textures and preparations, all Foods would be boringly similar to each other. No wonder Cuisines vary so widely around the Globe.

Welcome to ‘Spice Up Your Life’ – an Essential Guide to greatly expand your knowledge about the Herbs and Spices that provide the Unique Flavors to our Foods and Beverages. Because there are so many choices, it is impossible to satisfy multiple people with a precise Regimen. Therefore, this Guide has been prepared with ‘Individualism’ in mind. You are ‘one-of-a-kind’ so make your own Choices utilizing some or all of the following excellent References.

SUPER-SAVVY RE: FOOD

We are not born super-savvy re: foods.  We are introduced to them by our caregivers and then by subsequent exposure.  The ones that sustain us in life vary widely across the globe.  Factors such as race, beliefs, climate, soil conditions, altitude, rainfall totals and the availability of fertilizers may substantially impact their availability and, thus, our diets.  And that is just for starters.  Once we are fortunate enough to have access to some of them, how we consume them varies as well – raw, baked, fried, saut~ed, boiled, etc.  Some are eaten fresh, others frozen or dehydrated.  And we eat to satisfy both our taste buds and our appetites.  We have abundant choices, ranging from  all-veggie diet to eggs, fish, fruits, meats and combinations thereof.  Also, we can choose to Fast, eat only one meal per day or ‘three ‘squares’ as desired. Given the enormous number of food choices, it is not surprising that taste buds vary

enormously  around the world.

What's Your Cereal #?

Cereals – how abundant they are!  Dry or cooked, they are the mainstay of breakfasts the world over.  They are primarily  derived from corn, oats and wheat,  but there are plenty of others to choose from, such  as those made from barley, buckwheat, chia seeds, garbanzo beans, hemp seeds, kashi(K 7 Whole Grain Nuggets), especially rye, spelt, etc. A favorite, to be sure, is Granola, with or without dried fruits.  And many prefer non-grain muesli – especially ‘Bob’s Red Mill Paleo-Style Muesli’ which is concocted from Coconut, Dried Fruits, Nuts and Seeds … Yum! Want to make your own?  Just combine coconut flakes, your favorite nuts and raisins – it’s not bad.  And for purists, there is Ezekiel 4:9 right out of the bible, sort of.   It is made from sprouted (healthier) grains, including beans, barley, lentils millet and wheat – full of vitamins, —— minerals and antioxidants and usable ‘fuel’ (glucose).  And it’s palatable to boot – a win/win!
